Christian Hungerecker
Associate Partner
Christian Hungerecker
Christian Hungerecker likes to switch sides in his professional life and therefore describes himself as a ‘scientist practitioner’. After serving in the navy and studying sports and health sciences, his path as a level-4-coach of the DOSB (German Olympic Sports Confederation) for team handball led him through various positions to the first division and the elite school of sports in Hanover.
The decision to focus on his family led to his departure from the sports coaching business and enabled him to complete a Master (M.Sc.) in Sports Science during parental leave. With further specialisations as a sports psychology expert (asp) and coach mentor (DOSB), Christian now works as a coach developer.
After being responsible for scientific coordination and sports psychology in a top association for Olympic winter sports, he returned to the academic world, now as a researcher at the Kiel University. In his current research, he examines the phenomena of competition coaching in a self-reflective manner, so to speak, and is particularly interested in the effects of the coach-athlete relationship on the development and performance of athletes.
Christian is also certified by the German Association for Transactional Analysis as a coach (DGTA) and supervisor (DGTA). He is an honorary member of the Safe Sport Commission of the German Gymnastics Federation (DTB).
